Container

Kommen volle Container im Hafen an, dann werden sie irgendwann entladen. Wenn jetzt nicht genau die gleiche Menge Frachtgut auf die nächste Reise geht, dann bleiben leere Container über. In Hamburg sind viele Leercontainerhöfe südlich der Norderelbe vorhanden. Sie bieten der Unpaarigkeit der containerisierten Ladungsströmen einen Puffer. Zahlen von bis zu 33% Leercontaineranteil in der Schifffahrt kursieren.

Das war Grund genug für Eva und mich, uns das mal aus der Nähe anzusehen. Dazu hatten wir bestes Wetter. Es war für Ende März erstaunlich Warm und die Sonne schien.

Eva habe ich Euch bereits vorgestellt. Wir haben schon des öfteren gemeinsam Bilder gemacht. Das letzte war ein Boudoir-Hotel-Shooting.

Bei Aufnahmen wie diesen freue ich mich einfach immer wieder über die Farben, die die Leica M liefert. Das ist ein sehr kontroverses Thema. Es gibt welche die sehen das auch, es gibt welche die halten das alles für Erfunden. Es gibt welche wie Patrick Ludolph die sagen, Farben seien im Postprozess so variabel, das sich jeder Look erzeugen lässt. Damit liegt er sicher richtig. Mir geht es hierbei um etwas anderes. Als Techniker bewundere ich doch eher das rohe „Messergebnis“ bevor es in Lightroom im besten Sinne manipuliert wurde. Also das Raw. Dabei steht ganz klar das Objektiv im Fokus meines Interesses, das Glas.

Kürzlich stolperte ich über ein YouTube Video eines Herren, der der „Leica macht die schöneren Farben“-Fraktion zuzurechnen ist. Er behauptet dort, dass die aktuellen Objektive z.B. von Canon, Nikon oder Sony aber nicht ausschliesslich, stark auf Schärfe und Kontrast optimiert sind. Dafür benötige es vieler Korrekturgläser, die zusätzlicher verbaut seien. Diese würden die Farbigkeit beinträchtigen.

So etwas hatte ich zum ersten mal gehört und konnte der Theorie teilweise etwas abgewinnen. Auf Petapixel hat nun kürzlich jemand in die selbe Kerbe gedroschen und dazu noch die etwas feinstofflichen Themen „3D-Pop“ und „Mikrokontrast“ mit aufgebracht. Zusätzlich hat der Autor des Artikels noch ein scheinbar selbst kreiertes Diagramm eingeführt. Er ordnete über 80 Objektive (!) in sein Koordinatensystem ein, welches das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen „3D“ und „Hoher Lichtstärke“ und „Einem hohen Grad an optischer Korrektur“ aufspannt. Sein Versuch dieses These mit Beispielbildern zu untermauern schlägt indes fehl. In den Kommentaren unter dem Artikel wird er geradezu überführt diese bewusst, seine These stützend, gewählt zu haben.

Auch wenn er etwas über das Ziel hinausgeschossen ist, so denke ich doch, dass Thema Farbwiedergabe von Linsen ein spannendes sein kann. Bestimmt habe ich noch nicht genug dazu gelesen. Deshalb nehme ich mir das jetzt als kleines Projekt für diesen Blog mit, der Sache auf den Grund zu gehen. Ihr dürft gespannt sein, stay tuned!

When taking pictures like this, I’m always happy about the colors the Leica M delivers. This is a very controversial topic. There are those who see it, there are those who think it’s all invented. There are those like Patrick Ludolph who say that colors are so variable in the post-process that any look can be created. That’s certainly the right. I’m talking about something else here. As a technician I rather admire the raw „measurement result“ before it has been manipulated in Lightroom in the best sense. So the raw. The lens is clearly the focus of my interest, the glass.

Recently I stumbled across a YouTube video of a gentleman who can be attributed to the „Leica makes the more beautiful colors“ fraction. He claims that the current lenses from Canon, Nikon or Sony, for example, are exclusively optimized for sharpness and contrast. This requires many correction lenses, which are installed in addition. These would reduce the colourfulness.

I had heard something like this for the first time and was able to gain something from the theory. On Petapixel, someone recently put the same notch on it and added the somewhat subtle themes „3D pop“ and „micro contrast“. In addition, the author of the article has introduced an apparently self-created diagram. He arranged more than 80 lenses (!) in his coordinate system, which spans the tension between „3D“ and „high luminous intensity“ and „a high degree of optical correction“. His attempt to substantiate this thesis with example images fails. In the comments below the article, he is almost convicted that he has chosen thoses consciously, supporting his thesis.

Even if he has overstepped the mark a little, I still think that the subject of color reproduction of lenses can be an exciting one. I’m sure I haven’t read enough about it yet. That’s why I’m taking this with me as a small project for this blog to get to the bottom of it. You may be curious, stay tuned!
