„Du, das wird toll! Ich bringe noch meine Blumentante mit.“ Maria Hennigs Vorschlag „Traumhafte Blumenwolken“ kam mir gerade recht, denn ich hatte bei Meister Kamera im neu eröffneten Store in Hamburg gerade eine Leica SL gekauft. „Gebraucht“, wenn man das so sagen darf, denn eigentlich hatte der Vorbesitzer sie vor Jahren für seine Vitrine erworben, um sie von da an regelmäßig zu Meister zum jährlichen Check Up zu bringen. Dort wurde sie gereinigt und upgedated. Viele Fotos wurden damit nicht gemacht und als das Nachfolgemodell, die SL2 raus, kam war der Vitrinenplatz knapp und sie kam zurück in die Gebraucht-Vitrine von Meister, wo ich sie entdeckte. Sie hat mich durch die Glasscheibe angewinselt. Ich solle sie mit nehmen und in einen Haushalt bringen, in dem Kameras auch mal ordentlich Gassi geführt werden. Der Vergleich hinkt natürlich, dennoch konnte ich sie nicht mehr dort im kalten Regal liegen lassen.
Was für ein massives Stück Technik! Sie strahlt Vertrauen aus, ganz so, als wollte sie Dir sagen, „mach Dir keine Sorgen, drücke Du nur das Knöpfchen, das supermegahammergeile Foto mache ich dann schon für Dich!“. Irgendwie kommt mir das auch so vor. Ich kann nicht genau erklären, woran das eigentlich genau liegt. Es ist eine multisensorische Erfahrung, die Haptik, die Response des Auslöseknopfes, das brillante, kinogleiche Sucherbild. Das saugend-schmatzende Auslösegeräusch. Alles zusammen ist es eine Meisterleistung und es ist mir stets eine Freude, sie zu benutzen.
Doch zurück zu Maria und ihrer Freundin Katharina, die wir liebevoll die Blumentante genannt haben: Sie wollte Blumenwolken kreieren und hatte dafür ausgewählte Materialien verwendet Diese sollten hoch gehängt werden und Maria mit ihrer Modell-Kollegin Hannah darunter bzw. darin abgebildet werden. Ein Studio mit ausreichend Platz war schnell organisiert und als besondere Zugabe konnten wir noch die Visagistin Gosia für dieses Projekt gewinnen. Es war also eine runde Sache und wir verbrachten einen vergnügten Nachmittag. Die SL verwendete ich mit einem Lumix Zoom 24-70mm und einigen von meinen sehr geschätzten Leica R Linsen.
Zur SL werde ich mehr berichten, denn seit dem Kauf im Januar 2020 benutze ich kaum noch eine andere Kamera. Für mich ist sie der Geheimtipp. Ganz sicher der preiswertere Einstieg in die Leica Welt, als der Weg über die M. Sie ist auf dem Gebrauchtmarkt gerade recht erschwinglich.. Man kann nahezu alle Linsen der Leicawelt (M, R, S, SL) adaptieren bzw. direkt anschliessen. Dazu gibt es über die L-Mount Allianz mit Sigma und Panasonic-Lumix zwei weitere Hersteller, die wissen was sie tun und sehr gute Objektive liefern. Nur soviel vorweg, sie liefert prächtige Bilder ab und es macht mir viel Spaß sie zu nutzen. Diese Kamera ist ein Partner für dick und dünn!

„You that will be great! I’ll bring my flower lady.“ Maria’s suggestion, „Dreamlike flower clouds“ came just in time. Because I had just bought a Leica SL from Meister Kamera in their newly opened store in Hamburg. Used, if I may say so. Actually, the previous owner had bought it years ago for his glass cabinet, so that from then on he took it to Meister regularly for its annual check-up. There it was cleaned and updated. Many photos were not taken with it and when the successor model, the SL2, came out, space in the glass cabinet was limited and it was returned to Meister’s used showcase. Where I discovered it. If I now write that it begged me through the glass to take it with me and bring it to a household where cameras are taken for a walk like a dog in an animal home, the comparison is of course misleading. Nevertheless I could not leave them there on the cold shelf.
What a massive piece of technology. It radiates confidence, just as if it wanted to tell you, „don’t worry, just press the button, I’ll take that super awesome photo for you! Somehow it seems to me like that too. I can’t explain exactly what it is all about. It’s a multi-sensory experience, the feel of it, the response of the shutter release button, the brilliant, cinematic viewfinder image. The sucking smacking shutter release sound. All together it is a masterpiece and it is always a pleasure to use it.
But back to Maria and her friend Katharina, whom we lovingly called the flower lady. She wanted to create flower clouds and had used selected materials for this purpose. These should be hung high and Maria and her model colleague Hannah should be shown underneath or in them. A studio with enough space was quickly organized and as a special bonus we were able to get a make-up artist Gosia for this project. So it was a great event and we spent a pleasant afternoon. I used the SL with a Lumix Zoom 24-70mm and some of my highly appreciated Leica R lenses.
To the SL I will report more, because since the purchase in January 2020 I hardly use another camera. For me it is the secret tip. It’s certainly a cheaper way to enter the Leica world than the M. It’s very affordable on the second-hand market. You can adapt or directly connect almost all lenses of the Leica world (M, R, S, SL). There are two other manufacturers in the L-Mount alliance with Sigma and Panasonic-Lumix who know what they are doing and deliver very good lenses. Just so much in advance, it delivers splendid pictures and I enjoy using it very much. This camera is a partner for thick and thin!
